1. Purpose
Reineur (hereinafter referred to as "Reineur", "we", "our", or "us") respects your right to control your account, content, and personal data.
This Policy explains how Reineur handles the deletion of User accounts, posts, comments, replies, and other content. It also explains when deleted information may be retained and when it will be permanently deleted or irreversibly anonymised.
This Policy applies to account and content deletion across Reineur and should be read together with our Privacy Policy, Terms of Use, and Acceptable Use Policy and Community Guidelines.
2. Deleting Your Account
You may request deletion of your Reineur account through the account deletion feature provided in the Service or by contacting us at support@reineur.com
When you request account deletion:
2.1. Your account will be deactivated and will no longer be available to other Users during the deletion period.
2.2. Your profile information, reputation points, followers, and following will be removed from your deleted account.
2.3. Your posts, comments, replies, and other Community contributions may remain on Reineur where necessary to preserve the integrity and context of discussions. Where appropriate, these contributions will be anonymised or separated from your account.
2.4. You may recover your account within thirty (30) days of initiating account deletion.
2.5. After the thirty (30) day recovery period, your account will be permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.
2.6. Account deletion does not necessarily result in the immediate deletion of every record associated with the account where Reineur has a lawful basis or legal obligation to retain particular information.
3. Deleting Posts and Other Content
You may delete content you have submitted where the relevant Reineur feature allows deletion.
When content is deleted, Reineur may:
3.1. Remove the content from public view.
3.2. Remove the content from your profile.
3.3. Remove identifying information associated with the content.
3.4. Replace the content with a deleted or anonymised representation where necessary to preserve the context of an ongoing discussion.
3.5. Permanently delete the content where continued retention is not necessary.
The treatment of deleted content may depend on whether other Users have replied to, quoted, referenced, saved, or otherwise interacted with the content.
5. Right to Erasure and Personal Data
Where applicable under Nigerian law, you may request the erasure of personal data concerning you.
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act, 2023 ("NDP Act"), data subjects have a right to request erasure of their personal data and, in applicable circumstances, Reineur will erase personal data without undue delay.
Reineur may refuse, restrict, or delay deletion where continued processing or retention is necessary or permitted by applicable law or where a recognised legal exception applies.
Where only part of the information is required to be retained, Reineur will seek to retain only the information reasonably necessary for that purpose.
6. Retention of Deleted Content
Deleted content will be removed from public view promptly.
Where reasonably necessary, Reineur may retain a restricted copy of deleted information for up to one hundred and eighty (180) days for purposes including:
6.1. Moderation and enforcement.
6.2. Processing or reviewing appeals.
6.3. Investigating abuse, fraud, or security incidents.
6.4. Preventing repeated violations or attempts to evade enforcement.
6.5. Establishing, exercising, or defending legal claims.
6.6. Complying with legal or regulatory obligations.
6.7. Responding to lawful requests from competent authorities.
Access to retained information will be restricted to authorised personnel or service providers who require access for the relevant purpose.
After the applicable retention period, Reineur will permanently delete or irreversibly anonymise the retained information unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by applicable law or is necessary for an ongoing legal, security, moderation, or similar matter.
7. Content Subject to Moderation or Legal Matters
Deleting an account or content does not end an ongoing moderation investigation, appeal, or legal process.
Reineur may retain relevant information where reasonably necessary to:
7.1. Investigate violations of our Acceptable Use Policy and Community Guidelines.
7.2. Process or defend an appeal.
7.3. Investigate abuse, fraud, or security incidents.
7.4. Prevent enforcement evasion.
7.5. Establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
7.6. Comply with legal or regulatory obligations.
7.7. Respond to lawful requests from competent authorities.
Retained information will be access-restricted and will not remain publicly available solely because it is retained.
9. Backups
Deleted information may remain temporarily in protected backup systems.
Backup copies will be removed or overwritten in accordance with Reineur's backup lifecycle and applicable data-retention requirements.
Backup copies will not ordinarily be restored or used for normal operational purposes after deletion unless necessary for legitimate security, legal, disaster recovery, or other lawful purposes.
10. Legal Exceptions
Deletion rights are not absolute.
Reineur may retain or continue processing information where necessary or permitted by applicable Nigerian law, including where necessary for:
10.1. Compliance with legal or regulatory obligations.
10.2. Establishing, exercising, or defending legal claims.
10.3. Preventing or investigating fraud, abuse, security incidents, or other unlawful activity.
10.4. Responding to lawful requests or requirements from competent authorities.
10.5. Protecting the rights, safety, or security of Reineur, its Users, or other persons.
10.6. Freedom of expression or information, where recognised by applicable law.
10.7. Other legally recognised exceptions to the right to erasure.
Where an exception applies, Reineur will seek to retain only the information reasonably necessary for the relevant purpose.
11. Privacy Rights and Deletion Requests
Where applicable law gives you a right to request erasure, you may submit a request through the process described in our Privacy Policy or by contacting privacy@reineur.com
Your request should provide sufficient information for Reineur to identify your account and understand the information you want deleted.
Reineur may request reasonable information to verify your identity before completing a deletion request. This is intended to protect your account and personal information from unauthorised deletion requests.
Reineur will respond to valid requests within the timeframe required by applicable law.
Where Reineur is unable to comply fully with a deletion request because a legal exception or other lawful basis applies, we will explain the reason where legally permitted.
12. Permanent Deletion
Following completion of the applicable deletion and retention processes, information retained after deletion will generally be permanently deleted or irreversibly anonymised within one hundred and eighty (180) days, unless:
12.1. A longer period is required by applicable law.
12.2. A longer period is permitted by applicable law and is reasonably necessary for a lawful purpose.
12.3. The information is required for an active legal, security, moderation, fraud-prevention, or similar matter.
Once information has been permanently deleted or irreversibly anonymised, it cannot be recovered.
13. Protection of Personal Data During Deletion
Reineur will take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data during the deletion process.
Information that must temporarily be retained following a deletion request will be subject to appropriate access restrictions and security measures.
Reineur will process personal data in accordance with applicable Nigerian data-protection requirements.
14. Complaints and Regulatory Rights
If you have concerns about how Reineur has handled your account, content, or personal data, you may first contact us at privacy@reineur.com so that we can investigate and respond to your concern.

We may update this Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our Services, technology, legal requirements, regulatory guidance, or data-handling practices.
Where required by law, we will notify Users of material changes through the app, email, or other appropriate channels and update the "Last Updated" date above.
